The Long Weekend

Hi Everyone!

We have a couple of long weekends coming up with the Himmelfahrt and Pfingsten holidays. Here are a few ideas of fun events and things you can do with the kids.

In Steiglitz there is a carnival (Volkfest) on the Teltowkanal with rides, games, live music, clowns, martial arts and dance performances, food stands and a biergarten from the 26th of May until the 12th of June, open every day from 14-22:00

The Performing Arts Festival takes place from the 26th-29th of May and includes programs for children, including “Der gereimte Löwe” a shadow puppet theater on Friday the 27th at 10:00 and Saturday the 28th at 16:00 (Free Admission.)

On the 1st of June from 9-18:00, you can take your kids to the International Children’s Festival at FEZ, where there is a full day of fun-filled activities and performances for kids. See their website for more information.

For theater lovers, on Friday May 27th at 11:00 the Komische Oper will put on a performance of “Jim Knopf und Lukas der Lokomotivführer” in German. Tickets cost between 10-33€.

There is a “Brückentag” Day of Action at Märkische Ufer on Friday May 27th from 14-17:00 to celebrate the building of the Waisenbrücke in Mitte with a “high point” around 15:00 when a symbolic Bridging of ships of the Historic Port between the banks of the Spree with dance performance by Marameo Berlin e. V.

For Ukranians and Ukranian language speakers, The Märkisches Museum will host a free theater workshop for kids in Ukranian on Thursday May 26th at 14:00.

There is a Camera Obscura workshop on the 26th-27th (Thursday and Friday) from 10-16:00 and on the 28th-29th (Saturday and Sunday) put on by the Gemälde Galerie for kids ages 6-9. (48€)
