Hello everyone! Happy Saturday!
Today is an open house at the Schul Umwelt Zentrum in Berlin Mitte (Scharnweberstraße 159, Wedding) from 11-17:00!
As a way for kids to discover nature and gardening within the city, there are three locations of the SUZ throughout the city, Scharnweberstraße und 🌼 Seestraße im Wedding und 🌼 Birkenstraße in Tiergarten. The location on Scharnweberstrasse is an oasis within an otherwise somewhat bleak urban landscape and is well worth discovering: There is a bee house, a tadpole pond, green houses, a campfire pit and a wigwam, a Swedish wood house for weather observation and natural experiments, and Berlin’s only sand dune within the inner city. The open house will have fun hands-on activities for kids to learn about trees, plants and urban gardening.
The Schul-Umweltzentrum ( Gartenarbeitsschule Wedding) is on the Bezirks border Reinickendorf / Mitte between U‑Bahnhöfen Afrikanische Straße und Kurt-Schumacher-Platz. Insider tip: If you like fresh fish, there is a really nice fresh fish and Mediterranean foods (mostly non-perishables) shop and restaurant next door.
